Say goodbye to Ubuntu 11.04. End of security updates and bug fixes

Kate Stewart informed on mailing list that we can say goodbye to Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal). Support for that version ends on October 28, 2012, so we have only about one month left.

Ubuntu 11.04 was unveiled 18 months ago (28 April, 2011). It's a standard period in which Canonical is committed to ongoing security and critical fixes for one release.

Of course you can easily upgrade your Ubuntu 11.04 to Ubuntu 11.10, so you can still have the critical fixes and latest security fixes.

Ubuntu 11.04 comes with Unity desktop which year ago was a lot slower and unstable for lots of users. Fortunately it was just a begin of important changes and now Unity is full fledged Linux desktop.
